Google's Internet Browser is out: Chrome!

Wow, I never knew they were coming up with this and thanks to a classmate during my accounting class, I got to know of it. My class started at 1 (around 5 hours ago) but I've been fiddling with the browser since the time I came to know it's out. Yeah, I downloaded it and have been browsing during class....and I've no regrets about it.....at least unless the prof reads this post :P.

Any-who, what I like the most about this browser is that it gets rid of the 'menu' bar and gives a lot more web-page space for you to view! Also, the application shortcuts allow you to directly open Gmail, Google Reader and other such Google applications. I don't see how that is different from a normal bookmark but I guess this is more of an announcement post rather than a critical review of what's out. I love Google products and services and this one's got me as excited as any other product of theirs; so with no further ado here's the link to Google Chrome

Organizational Behaviour, Chilling at a Ranch (more of a hotel) and slightly tolerable vegetarian food - all in 3 days

Unofficially, one of my MBA classes already started with group exercises involving self-discovery, ice-breaking and plain emotional checks every morning. The course is interesting but sometimes, the search for one's true self and trying to understand the complexities of human behavior (especially my own) gets really tricky and tedious...well, it sure does get too much I think. If we were to understand ourselves so well, there would be no people issues in management. But well, I guess it's an attempt to 'minimize' organizational 'misbehavior' and as long as am there in it, it can never be eliminated :D. Any who, this post also carries some pictures which are not related to it. Read the captions.

Is she for real?

She's made of bronze placed right under a tree on one of the complexes at Malibu (where there is Ralph's grocery store). For a second, I thought she's for real! It really looks realistic with a book in her hand....I'm not sure what she was reading though...It's built to honor someone...some Lisette Ackerberg...I tried googling who she is but all I get is that apparently she is in the film industry and has got her place made by some renowned architect..

Bollywood to Hollywood :P

Reached Burbank (in LA) on 7th August. Stayed with my cousin and his wife for 2-3 days and now am at the Pepperdine campus. So many people told me it looks awesome...and it really is. It's amazingly beautiful and *sigh* I won't be living here because the on-campus rooms are really very expensive! Anywho, I'm enjoying the sights, scenery and the cafeteria food - as of now at least! Getting my bank account done and waiting to go to the beach. Here are some pictures of the campus...It looks perfect and really beautiful. Already met a few interesting people - from China, Czech Republic, France and of course - India :). Am looking forward to learning more about business and management from such a diverse student community...But where are all the 12-month MBA people? I just know 4 people who are attending the 12-month MBA program and am eager to meet the rest!

East meets West!

As a honorary (really! :D) member of one of my hometown (i.e. Mumbai - Rotary International District 3140, India) clubs,Rotaract Club of Mumbai Ghatkopar, I met up with Rotaract Club of Silicon Valley at one of their events...

It's a thrill to meet up with a chapter of a world-wide organization across continents and still feel the same Rotaract spirit! :)

That's me and Rtr Nicholas Adams, the president of Rotaract Club of Silicon Valley sharing a handshake...More pics as I get them...

Stanford Undergrads playing Quidditch

A view at the Oval (park) at Stanford. Other than the sight of a guys and girls basking in the sun (as if they were sun-bathing at Santa Cruz beach), there was this 'mystical' sight of undergrad wizards! :P

No! Their brooms weren't magical. I was not curious to know how they played it (I'm allergic to Harry Potter :P), but they surely seemed to enjoy it.

I saw the Dark Knight - at student discount.... :D

They should've titled it as: The Joker or Harvey Dent! They got a lot more footage than Batman!...I didn't find it too bad though...Although, there were some funny things in the movie:

- While most Hollywood movies have an extremely sophisticated, quick and (obviously) smart SWAT team, you will notice that they are just too dumb when it comes to encountering a superhero! Do watch out for that scene when you go to watch the movie....You will see am right!

- There was some good action inside a tunnel but the background score was missing! It was so 'not-exhilarating' for a superhero movie!

- Overall, the action is good, but I expected more. At least something awesome towards the end maybe...But hey, it does end with another superhero philosophy...err..which is mostly about sacrifices! :P

Just one dialog which I feel is really worth quoting from the movie...Oh, this was delivered Morgan Freeman (didn't expect him in the movie, but he was as good as ever :) ):

Let me get this straight. You think that your client, one of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the world, is secretly a vigilante who spends his nights beating criminals to a pulp with his bare hands…and your plan is to blackmail this person? [pauses, smiles] Good luck.

Real heroes!

One might never know who's really behind the terrorist attacks around the
world - terrorists groups or the politicians involved in power play.
I firmly believe there's more to it than what meets the eye. There are
conspiracy theories; then there is evidence that supports a democracy's
president to have funded terrorists attack. We will never know what is the
actual reason for these bombs and attacks - but we can't neglect the
unfortunate deaths of innocent people that are a result of these attacks -
which are *very real!* Thus, I think - not the presidents, not the
governor-general's and not even the elite people in the world's most secret
intelligence agencies/armies are the real heroes. It's those guys at the
grass-root level who deserve to be awarded. This one's to them!
